Soil not Oil by Vandana Shiva

This book captures the most urgent crises of our times - rising food prices, the peak of oil production and global climate change. In hopeful and urgent terms Vandana Shiva asks us to support the small farmer and the slow food movement.

"The most creative and necessary work humans do is to work with the soil as co-producers with nature." She makes a compelling case for environmental activism. Her deep knowledge about food and seeds in India is married to her scientific mind as a graduate of the physics program of the University of Western Ontario.
